THE COOPERATIVE DISTRICT IN TRENTINO

Out of a population of half a million inhabitants, Trentino counts more than 270,000 cooperative members. This means that two in three families  join the cooperation. These foundations make Trentino a real ” cooperative district “, like few others in the world.

 COOPERATIVE LAND

The first cooperative in Trentino was founded in 1890, and since then there has been an explosion of the cooperative movement: in less than five years many more cooperative enterprises were set up, consumer, credit and agricultural. There is not a valley nor town where a cooperative was not founded.

Today the network of cooperative enterprises covers the whole of Trentino, varying from sector to sector: credit, consumer, agriculture, services, social, work, environment, and housing. All grouped under a single Federation and fruit of the hundred more years of development started by those who were seeking for a new human dimension to society, which today  is integral part of the community.
